How do you diagnose adrenal fatigue/hypoadrenia?

Yuppers. asked:
Can it be shown in a thyroid test? Or what do they look for in blood tests (if they use blood tests) to diagnose adrenal fatigue?
Thanks!

They would test ACTH and serum cortisol, perhaps a 24 hour urinary free cortisol test. Saliva tests for cortisol can be used to test you at specific times. Time of test is important as cortisol follows a diurnal rhythm in a normal body so it would naturally be higher in the morning and lower at night.
If those tests are low, then the doctor can order an ACTH stimulation test.
The best doctor to see is an endocrinologist.
